As a music consultant you get different calls and you meet funny clients, let me share one out of many. Around 2:00 am in the afternoon, I was sitting with some of my friends that are musicians gisting about gospel music industry precisely, then a woman called and said I need your help doo I corrected her that it’s DOOW ma, she laughed and said DOOW I don’t have any musical talent, I can’t play drums, I sing like frog, I DANCE OFF KEY, I said no ma it’s off beat, we both laughed and I said even that off beat is music when its been rightly applied, if am playing 4/4 music and you’re dancing 7/8 timing then you’re gifted in odd timing music, my friends laughed, then she said I just love music and I want you to train my voice, I just want to sing in church, in my house to my family especially to my husband when he’s down or happy, I don’t want to add to his issues singing rubbish tones to his hears, Above all I want to sing to my God and worship him with a sweet melody from my heart and mouth. Wow I was glad to hear her say I love music, “Let me blow your mind by saying “IF YOU LOVE IT, YOU CAN HAVE IT”. It might not be in your possession for now, but I tell you, YOU CAN HAVE IT. All you need to do is, take that step, go for it,  don’t say I CAN’T, say I CAN, love creates an affection for something, you will have flair for it, you might not be able to do it but you know you CAN have it and it can become yours.

I just like when that guy sings, but you can’t sing like him, it might not be a career to you, but you’ve found a reason to use it just like the person that called me, if you can produce a sound, harsh, cracky, too tiny, nasal, I tell you today that you can sing.

So far you can move to the beat, whether right or wrong, you can produce a rhythm, all you need is restructuring it, and that’s what I do. You’ve discovered it now SO GET TRAINED
Don’t ever say I don’t have it, I can’t do it.

At a very tender age I discovered that I love to combine sounds and make rhythms, my rhythmic structure is so interesting that my siblings love to dance to the vibe. I will walk around the house beating my mum’s pot not leaving the empty cans checking the timbre and the tone colour.

After much playing around catching fun with it, I realized they have different tones, which is pleasing to the ear, professionals defined music as combination of pleasant sounds, you know that by now, I will then make sure I record my music. Way back then I have watched my dad operating his deck, silver colour I still remember, making use of casssate to record sounds, so when am alone at home, I will put a casssate into the deck, and press record and play and sing along, by myself I discovered that each sound I created is not to be destroyed or trashed, so I kept them, but over the years I lost the casssate, you know parent’s decision of changing location.

But the knowledge still sticks with me always, to keep whatever sound I create. I discovered that I can create, melodies, rhythms, I can also play and sing along, and I have the ability to operate the sound system.

As young as I was way back 1980’s, and from time to time I was getting more knowledge about drumming and singing.
Not neglecting the technical know how of softwares and making use of computer system to record my waves. Till date I still drum and sing and record on my phone, technology has made it easier for me. And now I’m a recording artist,  For over twelve years now I have been recording different sessions in the studio. Discover your gifts, don’t give up on it, giants thought of it, winners thought of it, pastors has decided to do it,  great composer even trashed all their composition, managers have decided to give up to resign, but they give it another thought, which is not giving up on their gifts. So don’t give up on your self.
Discover your gifts and work on it and most importantly become it. And be successful in it.

Music is life,  music is communication, music is discovery, over the years we’ve been able to discover, different kind of music, from the likes of classical music, contemporary music, pop music, R N B, to mention few, musicians has been creative coming up with several styles of music,  changing from year to year, in singing, in playing, in application of skills, soothing each generation to generation, dynamics applied differently, texture and forms. So also almost every great musician you see or listen to their music today discovered their gift or talent from when they were very young, and some of them are supported by one person to grow but they also majorly helped themselves. They are ready to see this gift as a major project to be worked on, groomed, sharpened and used rightly, so they decided to give all it takes into getting better everyday. So all am saying to you today, Is that discover your musical talents and work on it, learn from others,  get knowledge, give your self to wisdom, be open to criticisms, go out of your comfort zone, to get the best out of your self. Don’t be an highland of the little that you know, just be the best and get better daily.
